SPECIAL COMBAT AGGRESSIVE REACTIONARY SYSTEM- UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

USA

Developed by Jerry L Peterson is a North American martial art form known as Special Combat Aggressive Reactionary System (SCARS). This “combative” martial art form is said to have developed in the United States of America. Furthermore, this combat system is based on psychology, physiology, and physical movement. In addition, SCARS was inducted within the “Department of Navy” in the year 1988.

a. History/origin of SCARS:

SCARS was said to have been created by Jerry L Peterson after having served the “US Army 173rd Airborne Brigade” during the Vietnam War. Apparently, this combat system was developed using elements belonging to psychology, physiology, and physical movement. In addition, this combat system was made public in 1987, and then gradually began being taught via private seminars, online training, and DVD’s. It is also taught in various military institutions, law enforcement agencies, and security units such as the Arizona State Police.

b. Weapon used in the SCARS:

The “hands and feet” of the fighter is mainly used as a weapon in this unique martial art form.

c. Technique involved in the SCARS and training availability:

In terms of technique, SCARS is essentially based on the principle which states that “every human body reacts in the same way to specific injuries”.  Furthermore, the fighter in this form of combat basically uses “striking” techniques to attack specific nerves, bones, and organs and destabilize the opponent. The primary aim in this martial art form is to produce an “autokinematic reaction” that eventually results in spinal reflex. As for training centers/schools, there are few available especially in the United States of America for those interested in learning this “combative” martial art form.
